news

Carolina-grown southern girl Anjie Carpenter is making a big splash in pop and country with her authentic story-songs and pure-as-the-driven snow, intimate lyrical tones, taking influences from Emmy Lou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Pattie Griffin and Bonnie Rait. Nashville cronies call her the Marlene Dietrich of country.

Anjie has been singing publicly since the age of seven and professionally since 2000 when she made her first solo album. Mostly self-taught on both guitar and keyboards Anjie describes herself as vocally driven with authentic, life-story lyrics, a purist.

Anjie writes and sings her own music, and when you hear her, it will not only catch your attention, but uplift your spirits.

RCA of New York says, "Anjie is obviously a very talented singer." This singer/songwriter has been singing nationally since 2000, with a discography of four self-penned gospel and country albums.

Winner of WMIT's solo artist of the year contest Anjie has garnered over ten thousand votes for The Light's Star Search Event.

Anjie's release, Old Front Porch, caught the attention of legendary producer Papa Don Schroeder, who whisked Anjie off to Nashville for her stunning new album called "Turn the Quiet Up,".

Old Front Porch (also available in store) features ten of her finest with special guest Kevin Breit, the musical string genius who created Norah Jones' unique stylings.

Anjie has grass-roots radio play in the US, UK and across Europe and also has a strong local fan base.

Her newest release from the Vibe on Music Row, "Turn the Quiet Up" features legendary producer Papa Don Schroeder and Danny Duncan, with Nashville's finest players such as the Nashville String Machine, Dan Dugmore, Victor Krauss, Tom Hemby, George Cocchinni, and more.

Anjie's writing is fresh and out-of-the-box. Her voice captures you, her songs hold you, and her heart keeps you coming back for more.

featured track

Come Back To Me  would be my pick for featured track, it's a song about getting back to your dream, your purpose, your destiny as a person and walking away from things that have shut down those dreams....about not being afraid to shine or be something extraordinary..... Anjie Carpenter

Come Back To Me

radiant child

who snuffed out your light

darlin' you used to shine so bright

too many rules

you gave up the fight

too many "should haves"

come back to me

baby, shine your starry beams

dancin' dreamer

who stold your moves

you used to glide with the smoothest of grooves

floatin' through space

like a bird on the breeze

now your just passin' the day

come back to me

baby, dust off your dancin' dreams

when you've read your lines so many times

your script is wearing thin

just play the part once more from the heart

hope will come back again

sorrowful singer of melodies true

now you only sing what they tell you too

you sold out your song on the auction block

for the thinnest of dimes

and a walk in the park

come back to me

baby, shine your starry beams

come back to me

baby, dust off your dancin' dreams

come back to me

baby, sing me your sweet melody
